Before you ever sit in a cockpit, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) wants to ensure one thing: that you are medically fit to fly. That’s why the DGCA Class 2 Medical is the first mandatory requirement for anyone starting pilot training in India.

Why Is the DGCA Class 2 Medical Important?

  3. Choose your DGCA-approved medical examiner.

  4. Book your slot and attend the exam with required documents.

  5. Your doctor uploads your results → DGCA issues your Medical Assessment.

Your fitness letter will arrive directly in your registered email inbox.


What Tests Are Included in the Class 2 Medical?

The exam checks your overall health, including:

  • Height, weight, BMI

  • Vision test (near, distant, color vision)

  • Hearing test

  • ECG

  • Chest X-ray & lung evaluation

  • Blood & urine tests

  • Neurological & mental fitness review

If anything looks unusual, the doctor may ask for additional tests, which is normal and usually temporary.


Where Can You Get It Done?

DGCA has empanelled medical examiners across almost every major city in India.
You must pick one from the official DGCA-approved list only.

Documents Required

Carry:

  • Aadhaar/Passport/Driver’s License

  • 2 passport-size photos

  • Previous medical history or prescriptions

  • Form 61

  • Any surgery/treatment summaries

Validity of the Class 2 Medical

  • Below 40 years: Valid for 2 years
